ATTIRE
Philippe is born in 1972 in Paris. After a HEC preparatory class in Paris, he graduated from Emlyon Business School. Philippe started his career working for major groups such as BNP Paribas and L'Oréal. He returned to college in 2004 to attend Columbia University in New York and obtained a “Fundraising Management Program” degree.
Philippe’s interest for helping underserved neighborhoods started when he volunteered for the association Fête le Mur, created by Yannick Noah, and whose goal was to “decompartmentalize” tennis by making it known and practiced by young people living in disadvantaged neighborhoods. This experience allowed Philippe to discover these neighborhoods other than through the prism of the media. For one year, he trained young people and met their parents who had only one desire: to find a way to get away.
Overwhelmed by this experience, Philippe changed direction. In 1998, with Nicolas Eschermann, he co-founded Sport dans la Ville. Through sports activities, the organization imparts the values of self-confidence, teamwork, dedication, leadership and hard work. Beyond the benefits of practicing sports, Sport dans la Ville relies on the values conveyed by the business world to open up neighborhoods. Philippe sees corporations as key contributors to social progress, noting that meaningful support and opportunity can transform lives when individuals are offered a helping hand.
Today, thanks to the support of approx. 300 public and private partners, Sport dans la Ville is able to serve thousands of children, to guide them toward higher education and employment. In 28 years, Sport dans la Ville has created innovative and performing educational programs dedicated to serving the youth at every stage of their development. Sport dans la Ville is today France’s leading non-profit serving more than 15,000 underserved children through sports and job-readiness training in 40 different French cities. Philippe has been awarded in 2019 with the scholarship “Fulbright NGO Leaders Program”.
Philippe is married, lives in Lyon and has three children.
